And this is why anyone who does anything creative professionally needs to take some form of college-level economics course. All of the items mentioned in the article are production-level economic considerations, but most people these days haven't got any clue how to analyze such - which goes a long way towards explaining why, despite earning on average more than any generation yet, so many of them are going broke by degrees and bad decisions.

Yes, artists do deserve a just compensation, just as anyone else who works does. But until the artist demands his place and prerogatives as a craftsman, he won't get them.

I agree with her numbers.

And I am grateful for someone of her level saying something.

Artists are craftsman period....It is sad we have been taught to avoid that word. It emasculates us.
