My Neighbors Throwout Some Useful Stuff or Today's Fun en la Casa

Woke up a little later today and as it was again much cooler I was able do some extended skip diving and run some time sensitive errands after my active chores.

The front garden is chugging along despite the heat and intense exposure. So glad we chose Mediterranean and sun-loving herbs and veggies to go with the flowers that were already planted. Lately I am trimming and harvesting weekly and from the looks of things the perennials will be well established by first frost. At this rate I will have plenty of tea and cooking herbs put up for Winter. Some of my tins are already full. Which feels awesome. LM has been of great help hauling water and spraying plants. I have gotten to share a lot of practical science as well as my lovely of gardening with him. Win-win.

Skip diving was pretty good today. Found LM a lovely child-sized rocker in reasonable shape plus a couple bits n bobs for indoor play for when the rains come. Puzzles are always popular here. The rocker is solid wood and though the finish shows some age and use; it was easy to clean up with a bit of wood wax and a screwdriver. Himself is delighted as he's wanted one for a quite a while and I had be unable to find a sturdy one for any price. So finding it free was a bonus. I'll likely make a chair pad for it later this month if I can get LM out of it long enough to take measurements.

He's named it his Reading Rocker.

The Geek is strong with that one.

Also scored a 4 cup french press glass carafe. It's in new just out of the box shape. No press screen, but I knew I had extras in storage. So now I have a backup in case of breakage. Considering how old my other press is that could happen at anytime. And me without coffee is not a good thing.

I got my full step goal in after almost 20 days. 11866 steps or 5.48 miles. Felt good to do it but I am gonna feel it in the morning. Likely get another 1/2 mile or so in doing my nighttime chores before the counter rolls over at midnight.

Well off to play with some yarn-

Oh, a Reading Rocker sounds wonderful! (And you can't beat that price!)

I'm always amazed at the things people throw out. I took a ride up to my old neighborhood last year and there was a cute little table out in the alley. It seemed in fine shape. It was too big to carry home, though. I walked past it and by the time I came back around, someone else had snatched it up.

yup it is crazy.

I have several places around here I know to check regularly.

For hauling I have one of LM's stroller's with me and often a backpack.

Good thing too. A few weeks back we found 2 brand new ikea twin bed frames (new 80 bucks each) with everything but the mattresses (do not want). Snatched those right up. Planning on selling one to pay for a mattress for the other. I am redoing LM bedroom this Fall and that's alone saved me almost 200 with delivery.

Of course being on foot makes sure I am picky. LOL
